Meet LALA
also known on paper as the gorgeous Keira Rae Hocking.
Keira from Melbourne is the author of,
new now popular, Last Daze blog.
Keira writes through the eyes of Lala which gives her an opportunity to write in a light that may not be the most dashing but also bluntly honest and hilarious.
I know I can't wait for her weekly instalments for what all girls really need to hear.
I can't put it better then her bio, so read a little
on what Last Daze Blog is about and what she dishes out
every monday from here:
Last Daze Blog bluntly shares the tragically hilarious stories of single life, fashion, friends and everything in between. Told through the eyes of Lala, Last Daze is a mash up of SATC meets GIRLS meets the blatantly honest friend that we all have/need to say it how it is even when you don’t want to hear it. Having already established a cult following among social media circles, Last Daze Blog continues to grow and entertain with every weekly instalment.
I was able to chat to Lala as Keira and see where it all started, who Keira is and what she's had going on especially since starting Last Daze.
Hannah: Hello Miss Lala or should I call you Keira? I'd assume you'd get that a lot since creating Last Daze, Where did the name come from?
Keira: Hahaha, so embarrassing the nickname Lala all started because I used to randomly sing “La La La” for absolutely no reason. The nickname stuck amongst friends, but then when I decided to use it as a “sign off” on Last Daze Blog it kind of took over. I think I get called LaLa more than Keira Rae now.
H: When did you start writing Last Daze? What was the inspiration and where did it come from?
K: I’ve always written, I guess it’s been my outlet. It wasn’t until my best mates discovered this that they forced me to start doing something with it and share my writing. They’re the ones I have to thank, and the universe has done a great job at sending me some excellent, “inspiration” shall we say? haha
H: So, what does Keira dig? What are you really like, a lot how we read of what Lala is? Give us an insight into your 'normal' life I guess.
K: Haha, my life is apparently far from normal, but it’s the only way I know how to live. Um shit I dig and don’t dig haha I feel like I’m creating an RSVP Profile right now. I’m pretty cruisy mate, what you see is what you get I’m far too lazy to be fake, and too forgetful to be a massive liar. Lala, is definitely a character that has evolved from my life and it’s tales. This way works for me because it allows me to have a life away from the blog, which I try and keep out of public/social media as much as possible.
H: So you also write for other publications? Anything special or any special recognition for your writing lately?
K: I’m probably most excited about an upcoming collaboration with Minc Magazine. It’s a step away from my usual love/lack of love life topic, which was scary but fun for me. I really dig what the guys at Minc do, so it was rad to be have the chance to write for them. It’s also led me to meet some amazing people and be apart of some amazing projects. Elliott Label have been my biggest supporters from the word go, we just clicked. And it was also through the blog which led the One Wave crew to find me. They are a non profit surf community that I am involved with. I’m excited for these relationships to keep going from strength to strength.
And then, I guess most recently winning Blogger of the Month was an amazing surprise for me.
H: Wow, that's huge. The more popular your work becomes do you still get nervous with your new posts? It must be daunting from not starting out too long ago to now have such a following.
K: It’s still surreal to me that in such a short time Last Daze Blog has developed the following it has. Seriously, who knew being an expert at being single would actually be a rad thing? I am forever grateful for the ongoing support that I have received and am still amazed when I get emails from people who laugh their arses off each week. But yeah, I still get nervous as all hell every time I post something, that’s part of the fun, if it doesn’t scare you it’s not worth doing right?
H: If you could give any love or just life advice to readers out there, what would be?
K: Haha, ask the single Lala advice on love, this is bound to spell disaster. All I know is to be honest & always go with your gut. I’m still working it out myself, if I figure it out though I’ll let you know :)
H: Well thank you for your time Miss Lala and for joining us and sharing your world with us. So good to hear you going to do so many great things! And of coarse I can't wait till next week's instalment of Last Daze to see where I could maybe take a tip or two. All the best of luck girl.
