MEET JESSE & ADDZY FROM NEWYORKCATS, JAKUBI, GOLD TICKET GROUP and a shit load more

Meet Jesse and Addzy of GOLD TICKET GROUP.
You may also know them from such Melbourne projects as New York Cats, Little Tokyo, Jumunji and an epic band called 'Jakubi'.
The boys have just pulled all their time, energy and money together to take them to the next step and what better to do it with a dope massive space for creatives to work, a place to support their music and a perfect venue for them to host their incredible parties; well they did it and the launch is this weekend!
I spoke with the boys this week in the lead up to their launch party and they took me on a virtual tour of the pad, man it looks epic and if any of you Melbourne cats had sense, I'd be checking this sweet place out.
AND THEY HAVE A GOLD DOOR!
Included within the building they have spaces to be rented for offices, screenings, meetings, what ever your heart desires, photography studio, common space, band room and more but that's for you to go take a look.
Here I caught up with the boys and this is what they had to say!
Let's just say after this it's only to be "bigger and better"
Hannah: Jesse and Addzy! How are you boys? It's been a while, what've you been up to recently? your new pad looks epic and I love the gold door!
Jesse and Addzy: The boys are good! The last two months have been epic for us, Juzzy, addz and i have been really busy with pretty much everything. I have recently stopped working as much at my day job just so i can spend more time on doing epic things. We recently went on a Jakubi trip to Sydney with the band came back to Melbourne and then headed back up north for a New York Cats DJ set at Splendour In The Grass. Just before we went to Sydney we found out that our application got approved for a warehouse space in Fitzroy. That was an extremely lengthy process. But fuck yeah, we have a gold door!
H: You guys have been busy! How did you guys start all your ventures together and who is involved?
J & A: Me and my two cousins, Addam and Justin saw an opportunity to run a Sunday afternoon party at a restaurant/bar i was working at and living on top of late 2010. The place was new, spick and span but for some reason the owners decided that they would trade on Sunday, But not after 4.
We put in a proposal to start an American themed weekly party on the first Sunday of 2011. It went ahead, it was crazy, and everything snowballed from that day on.
H: Take us back to the start of it all how long have you all been working together and what nights and venues have you been apart of?
J & A: First Sunday of 2011 - New York Cats on Chapel Street. After that we were running a Friday night, highly alcohol fuelled party called Little Tokyo, that was at a place called The Highlander in the CBD. Jumanji Nights took over the Little Tokyo parties on the first Friday of every month, on the 3rd level of The Carlton Club. It was nuts. After the success of that we were offered a Sunday downstairs on their main floor... New York Cats is back!
H: Well what have you been doing in between there? Tell us about I guess the "day job" and your playtime?J & A: Adz and i have been doing the daily grind at fairly "normal" day jobs in between the events and band life. Justin is a professional photographer and graphic designer and he spends a lot of time doing that during the day.
H: I understand Jakübi is doing really well and now that you guys have your very own band room in the pad what's coming up?
J & A: Yeah, the last two months have been ace. Having the jam space really close to us has really helped bring things together. We recently did a studio session on a new single that will be coming out in the next couple of weeks, which we are really excited about. The day after that comes out we start our "Feels Like Yesterday East Coast Tour" with 4 shows in your lovely city, Sydney! Tour dates are being released either today or tomorrow so keep your eyes on it.
H: Give us all an insight on what to expect at the big party? and I hear the after party won't be short lived either continuing through to the Carlton Club, give us some goss on what's going down.
J & A: Basically not even our closest friends have seen much of us for the last two months, apart from on Sundays. This day party is like a viewing of what we have been up to in that time, a showcase of our photography studio and creative spaces that are waiting to be occupied. It is also a big thank you to everyone that has been there from the start and to everyone we have met along the way. FREE BEER, FREE FOOD! We have locked in some of our favorite Melbourne DJs for the day party and for the after party that will be taking place at New York Cats @ The Carlton. That is 15.5 hours of smiles, tunes, dancing, burgers, babes, and beers!
H: Hell yeah boys, going to be a long and great day! Was lovely chatting to you both and hearing all the exciting things that are happening, what's next for 'Gold Ticket Group'?
J & A: Long term: If we take on any more than we are doing at the moment, i think our dreams of losing our days jobs to concentrate solely on Gold Ticket will come true. Can you imagine that feeling? We definitely can.
Short term: Friday 20th - NY CATS DJ set - THIS THAT @ Revolver upstairs
Saturday 21st - NY CATS DJ set - BLEEDING KNEES CLUB support @ Rats
Sunday 22nd - GOLD TICKET GROUP DAY PARTY + NEW YORK CATS @ The Carlton
H: It's great to hear how well everything's going with you guys. Can't wait to see what happens from here and to see all the snaps. Check out their videos and see what it's all about!
Hope you have loved the first 'Meet the Creatives' post and can't wait to deleiver again!
HAPPY FRIDAY.
Enjoy Dope Bitchez,
Love Hannah.
