Who else? Minc Magazine

So incase you haven't already checked out Minc Magazine's issue 2# for yourself (which may I say if you haven't, I'm disappointed) I'd highly recommend it.
The reasoning behind the fact that I never made this post earlier was for the pure fact.. well I'd assume everyone should have seen it if they love fashion, music, beauty, art and culture and have some sort of taste.
If this is your first blissful time of hearing about it then, your pardoned on this occasion. Go check it out, read it, download it, melt over it.
And just to get you a bit excited the next issue comes out 'May Day' (May the 1st guys).
So new Minc Mag readers enjoy issue two which you'll find the beautiful Kit wearing Tara Wolf, drool over the gorgeous Luke and Morgan, dream about summer with Minimal Animal, be swept into the depths of the Big Apple with some dope images and beautiful words, be jealous over the babe with the best swag Bec, fall in love with Triple Society's incredible threads and join me in my article to sit down with Little Bastard and be in awe of the new seven boys on the block with some rad tunes.
Dive on in and look around, and better yet just enjoy...
Enjoy Dope Bitchez,
Love Hannah.

The Sunday Archives - Erin's Pink

Back when I hit the gold coast last October I was still  attempting to rock out my pink hair.
With this opportunity my mother, Erin,
wanted me to be a subject to play with her
and her new camera finally got her opportunity.
Muma use to be a photographer in her day, she still does it today but is a lot different these days with how she use to work and how she is discovering her love for DSLR's.
Back in her prime days she was photographing portraits and landscape, both friends, family, clients, weddings, beautiful backdrops, buildings and the list only continues.
The photography love seems to be like mother, like daughter.
These are her photo's and I hope you enjoy them as much as she did taking them.
Enjoy Dope Bitchez,
Love Hannah.

Meet LALA!

Meet LALA
also known on paper as the gorgeous Keira Rae Hocking.
Keira from Melbourne is the author of,
new now popular, Last Daze blog.
Keira writes through the eyes of Lala which gives her an opportunity to write in a light that may not be the most dashing but also bluntly honest and hilarious.
I know I can't wait for her weekly instalments for what all girls really need to hear.
I can't put it better then her bio, so read a little
on what Last Daze Blog is about and what she dishes out
 every monday from here:
Last Daze Blog bluntly shares the tragically hilarious stories of single life, fashion, friends and everything in between. Told through the eyes of Lala, Last Daze is a mash up of SATC meets GIRLS meets the blatantly honest friend that we all have/need to say it how it is even when you don’t want to hear it. Having already established a cult following among social media circles, Last Daze Blog continues to grow and entertain with every weekly instalment.
I was able to chat to Lala as Keira and see where it all started, who Keira is and what she's had going on especially since starting Last Daze.
Hannah: Hello Miss Lala or should I call you Keira? I'd assume you'd get that a lot since creating Last Daze, Where did the name come from?
Keira: Hahaha, so embarrassing the nickname Lala all started because I used to randomly sing “La La La” for absolutely no reason. The nickname stuck amongst friends, but then when I decided to use it as a “sign off” on Last Daze Blog it kind of took over. I think I get called LaLa more than Keira Rae now.
H: When did you start writing Last Daze? What was the inspiration and where did it come from?
K: I’ve always written, I guess it’s been my outlet. It wasn’t until my best mates discovered this that they forced me to start doing something with it and share my writing. They’re the ones I have to thank, and the universe has done a great job at sending me some excellent, “inspiration” shall we say? haha
H: So, what does Keira dig? What are you really like, a lot how we read of what Lala is? Give us an insight into your 'normal' life I guess.
K: Haha, my life is apparently far from normal, but it’s the only way I know how to live. Um shit I dig and don’t dig haha I feel like I’m creating an RSVP Profile right now. I’m pretty cruisy mate, what you see is what you get I’m far too lazy to be fake, and too forgetful to be a massive liar. Lala, is definitely a character that has evolved from my life and it’s tales. This way works for me because it allows me to have a life away from the blog,  which I try and keep out of public/social media as much as possible.
H: So you also write for other publications? Anything special or any special recognition for your writing lately?
K: I’m probably most excited about an upcoming collaboration with Minc Magazine. It’s a step away from my usual love/lack of love life topic, which was scary but fun for me. I really dig what the guys at Minc do, so it was rad to be have the chance to write for them. It’s also led me to meet some amazing people and be apart of some amazing projects. Elliott Label have been my biggest supporters from the word go, we just clicked. And it was also through the blog which led the One Wave crew to find me. They are a non profit surf community that I am involved with. I’m excited for these relationships to keep going from strength to strength.
And then, I guess most recently winning Blogger of the Month was an amazing surprise for me.
H: Wow, that's huge. The more popular your work becomes do you still get nervous with your new posts? It must be daunting from not starting out too long ago to now have such a following.
K: It’s still surreal to me that in such a short time Last Daze Blog has developed the following it has. Seriously, who knew being an expert at being single would actually be a rad thing? I am forever grateful for the ongoing support that I have received and am still amazed when I get emails from people who laugh their arses off each week. But yeah, I still get nervous as all hell every time I post something, that’s part of the fun, if it doesn’t scare you it’s not worth doing right?
H: If you could give any love or just life advice to readers out there, what would be?
K: Haha, ask the single Lala advice on love, this is bound to spell disaster. All I know is to be honest & always go with your gut. I’m still working it out myself, if I figure it out though I’ll let you know :)
H: Well thank you for your time Miss Lala and for joining us and sharing your world with us. So good to hear you going to do so many great things! And of coarse I can't wait till next week's instalment of Last Daze to see where I could maybe take a tip or two. All the best of luck girl.

Well I hope you enjoyed this week's Meet the Creatives.
Until next time...

Hey you there!

Lets just look at the likes of Powder Finger, The Grates, Ball Park Music, Last Dinosaurs, Hungary Kids of Hungary, Dune Rats and The Medics, just to name a few, all from lovely Brisbane, Queensland.
These are great bands that have either already made a splash or a diving into the pool to get some great feedback and reviews whilst establishing a name for themselves.
Well here I now present to you a band now getting some love from some important people in the big wide music world and their studs, here is 'The Lesser Bilby'.
This Brisbane based band, has now been getting noticed with their debut on Home and Hosed, Triple J, FBI radio and only recently also had their new track 'Backyard Song' as a feature track for the week on triple J unearthed digital.
Their doing well as the four piece from Brisbane is getting their music out there and playing quite a few shows with The Young Professionals.
I could also go on about their sound or not and it may make you intrigued to listen to it. I think I'll go with plan B...

Meet Ashley Cook

I present to you our first creative...

Meet Ashley Cook.
So our lucky first creative,
stems from a subject that's close to my heart,
photography.
And man is he a dope one.
Ashley is a photographer based on the Sunny Gold Coast.
How I decided when brainstorming this idea for the new column I had to really think about some creatives I either respected, knew had something different to their creative skill or were a dam good person who had raw talent.
Ashley however ticked more than one box.
Which makes me present him to you first.
So, meet Ashley
I've known him for a number of years now, so I have seen first hand his progression as a photographer and he has done some rad projects that are separating him from others on the Gold Coast. And with this post I actually have a body of work to show you his progression and new professional style. Here Ashley lets us in on what he has done, is doing and a bit of an insight that may make you see into his world.
Hannah: Hello Ashley! How have you been and what have you been up to?
Ashley: Yeah I've been good, I was in Melbourne a few weeks ago doing my first major FW. I applied for it last year but only got accredited for one event so I didn't bother going down. This year I was wanting to apply but completely lost track of time and lucky enough I just made it in time to apply for accreditation with literally 1 hour left. I ticked every event that I wanted to shoot at throughout the week hopeing I would get it, a week later I got a message saying that I got absolutely everything I couldn't believe it. I booked flights for Melbourne then I flew out a couple of days later. It was one of the craziest and best weeks of my life so far.
H: It's good to hear, last time we caught up I was behind the lens, that was 3 years ago now. What have you been up to since then?
A: Really? has it been that long already? Ive stayed put on the Gold Coast, trying to make a name for myself, trying to promote my photography page, Ive done a few shoots here and there with models, but other than that I haven't been up to anything that crazy.
H: I understand you were working with Leah Madden, the owner of White Sands Swimwear, both on her campaign with Samie Robinson, from the Gold Coast and Mink Pink Campaign model. What was that like for you?
A: Yeah after doing my first shoot with you I asked my friend Samie if she wanted to do a shoot and I had leah as a friend on facebook so I thought I would ask her if I could have samples for the shoot in return for some photos.
H: Did that also lead you to photograph as Swim Week 2011? Possibly to do so well in Melbourne fashion week recently?
A: Leah was the main designer and one of the organisers for Gold Coast FW that year, she wanted some shots behind the scenes and gave me a pass, it was pretty cool but I honestly had no idea what I was doing or how I should have had my camera settings at the time, plus all of the photographers that were there weren't friendly at all so I couldn't ask anyone.

The shows here are completely different to what its like for Melbourne FW, on the first night I was really nervous and decided to hang on the edge of the media pit. I thought everyone would have been real serious and really not friendly, but I was totally wrong, all the photographers were acting like they were family and were all helping one another out. I became friends with one of the main photographers there and he helped me work out the correct settings I needed for my new camera. that gave me enough confidence to claim a position right in the middle of the pit for the rest of the shows. most of the time i was surrounded by at least 40 other photographers, some nights I was shooting right next to the official photographers for Vogue Australia and Lorea'l, that made me a little bit nervous haha.
H: Nice. So where did it all begin anyway? I know that you did a lot of wave photography in your early photography days, is that where your passion started?
A: I used to bodyboard alot with some of my close friends at the time, one of my mates bought a camera and started taking surf shots, I bought a setup and we both learn't from each other, I loved taking surf photos but I really wanted to get into fashion.
H: So how did you end up in fashion as it seems like its a big passion? According to the Rayban and Pedestrian TV awards your getting noticed.
A: After doing the shoot with Samie Robinson everyone started to noticed the both of us. Leah from white sands loved the whole shoot and wanted me to do more shoots for her. Division Models messaged both me and Samie on Facebook asking us to come in to their agency. Samie ended up being signed for them a week later, and I assisted and worked on a couple of shoots for them.

Because the shoot I did with Samie was so popular I thought I would enter one of the photos into the Rayban Competition. About 3,000 people entered the comp last year and I made it to the top 3! i still cant believe i did so well with one of the first shots i ever took.
H: That's rad! So what's next on the Calendar for you?
A: I've been planning to move to Melbourne with my girlfriend for awhile now and we should be down there by the end of June. While I was at LMFF (Lorea'l Melbourne Fashion Festival) I actually met Marina Dojchinov, the editor for this new up and coming fashion mag called "Loki Magazine" we exchanged contact details and I took photos at the festival for the website all week. She loved the shots and my portfolio. amazingly, she asked me to be one of the official photographers for the magazine. I'm pretty excited about it, see what happens.

In the mean time I have about 4 shoots planned with models, I'm wanting to create a double exposure series before I leave, I just did one recently and loved what came out, so hopefully I can get a rad series of shots before I move.
H: Well, that's massive! Good luck to you and thank you so much for sharing your work with us. To keep up to date on Ashley Cook's Photography and watch his journey check his facebook fan page and give it a like here.

Until next time...
Enjoy Dope Bitches,
